INDIANAPOLIS — One man is dead following a shooting on the Indianapolis west side Thursday.
Police responded to a shots fired call at 1909 North Koehne Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. That's north of West 16th Street and east of Riverside Drive.
Officers located a man, believed to be around 30-years-old, who had been shot in the head and died at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians were dispatched and police requested additional officers as a crowd gathered.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was shot just inside the front door of a house following a domestic incident. Police believe the man was targeted by his assailant.
A person-of-interest in the shooting was taken to police headquarters for questioning.
With nearly four months left in 2020, Indianapolis is headed to the most murders in the city's history.
