INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was shot and killed Thursday morning on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Genae Cook said officers responded the shooting just after 6:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Taft Street.
When police arrived, they found the woman lying in the backyard of the house. Cook said the woman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, but she was later pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives are investigating at the scene and following up on several leads, but Cook did not release information about a possible suspect.
