INDIANAPOLIS — A wrong-way driver was arrested after crashing into a semi that was carrying explosive material early Wednesday morning, according to state police.

Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine said the female driver was going the wrong direction on southbound I-465 near Brookville Road when she hit a semi loaded with ammonium nitrate.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the scene to secure the load and determined that the cargo was not damaged and was not leaking from the crash.

The female driver was taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and then arrested. The exact charges she is facing are unknown at this time.

State police say the semi driver was not injured in the crash.
