INDIANAPOLIS – Community members, Indianapolis police and the Ten Point Coalition celebrated 365 days without a homicide in the Crown Hill neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
The Ten Point Coalition led a public safety walk down Capitol and Graceland Avenues shortly after 3 p.m.
Instead of focusing on a milestone of peace, Rev. Charles Harrison said the focus lies in community partnerships.
Some of the volunteers who participated in the walk said the result of city partnerships are encouraging.
“I think it gives them that sense of peace, that sense of security and that reaffirmation that you know the community I actually live in is safe it is okay,” said Whitley Wynns, first time volunteer.

Harrison said the goal was to reduce homicides from seven to five or four, and they have now celebrated an entire year without a homicide.
