INDIANAPOLIS – The Dalai Lama talked about compassion, but he also touched on some of the most divisive issues in the country right now, including gun control.

The Tibetan leader spoke to thousands at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in what was billed as a talk on compassion.  But soon after the terror attack at a nightclub in Orlando left 49 people dead, and less than a week after House Democrats held a 25-hour sit-in trying to force a vote on a gun control bill, the Dalai Lama told his audience it was about more than the law.

The Dalai Lama also said he was pleased to see a crowd of diverse faith in attendance.  He was introduced by Republican Congresswoman Susan Brooks, and tomorrow he will speak downtown to the U.S. Conference of Mayors.  He also will share the stage with Lady Gaga for a panel discussion tomorrow after his speech.
