INDIANAPOLIS -- The daughter of an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer who was killed in the line of duty received a surprise send-off to her prom at Decatur Central High School on Saturday.
On a day when her father should have been meeting the boy taking her to prom, Officer Rod Bradway’s daughter, Sierra, was visiting his grave to mark the special occasion.
IMPD officers and other law enforcement agencies met Sierra and her date, Brock, at Crown Hill Cemetery to give them a proper send-off to prom as well as honor Officer Bradway.
Sierra’s date is the son of a Marion County Sheriff’s captain. His mother is the one who set up the special event.
Officer Rod Bradway lost his life on September 20, 2013, after was shot when he ran into an apartment building after hearing a woman scream for help.

The group sent Sierra and Brock off to prom with a note her father would have given: “Have her home by 11 p.m.!”
Honored to be included in Sierra's Prom. As our beloved fallen brother #OfficerRodBradway would say "Have Sierra home before 9P, sir!" pic.twitter.com/nHGznzhNvJ
