INDIANAPOLIS -- The daughter of a woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle after leaving a Halloween party early Sunday is pleading for justice.

Kayla Hicks should be celebrating her first wedding anniversary this week, but instead, she's planning her mother's funeral and working with police to try to find the person responsible for her death.

"My mom was an amazing person. She cared so much for everybody," said Hicks.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers found Cherry Velasquez Crisostomo, 38, dead at the side of the road early Sunday morning.

Police say she was walking home from a party after she got into a fight with her boyfriend.

"We were at a Halloween party and she had just won a competition for her costume. And she was waving it and said i won, I won! I'm going to go put this in the car." Hicks said she left the party after that, and it was the last time she saw her mother alive.

Crisostomo's daughter said Halloween was her favorite holiday. The mother of three loved to dress up.

Now, this time of year that was once centered around love, is shrouded by loss.

And Hicks' only plea is that the person who is responsible for her mother's death, come forward.

"Please turn yourself in or if someone knows who did this please just turn them in. I just want justice for my mom," said Hicks.
