MARION, Ind. -- Police are investigating the death of a man found inside a home in Marion Tuesday morning as a homicide.
Officers were called to the Auto Zone at 901 S. Baldwin Ave. around 6:30 a.m. after receiving a complaint about a man causing damage to a vehicle.
When officers arrived, the caller, who was identified as Shannon Collins, "began speaking about conducting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation" to a man at a home in the 2000 block of West 9th Street.
Officers found the victim, identified as 55-year-old James L. Zook, Jr., of Marion, at the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot. Police located 31-year-old Waylon Sadler at 12:42 p.m. when he fled from an officer. Police said Sadler matched the description of the suspect in the homicide.
According to the Marion Police Department, Sadler is the boyfriend of Shannon Collins, who is the daughter of James Zook.
Sadler was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation. He has been charged for the following crimes against Collins: battery resulting in serious bodily injury, confinement and intimidation.
The homicide investigation is ongoing. Sadler is currently being held in the Grant County Jail.
