One year ago Monday, the Colts lost to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, 45-7. It ended the Colts season, but had a more lasting effect on the NFL.
DeflateGate.
After the game ended, the NFL began investigating whether the Patriots had deflated footballs to give them an advantage.
The investigation ended with a four-game suspension for Patriots quarterback Tom Brady – which was later overturned by a federal judge on Sept. 3.
But not before the scandal would launch #DeflateGate, leading to countless Internet memes and some local businesses joining in the fun.
