DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff's Department arrested two people last week on drug charges after an undercover investigation.
The investigation began in July when a deputy was notified that a man named Jon Broadnax was on his way to Muncie, possibly carrying as much as a kilo of cocaine, according to a probable cause document.
Investigators followed Broadnax and an accomplice for months while they gathered information in Delaware County. On Sept. 1, an investigator spotted Broadnax and the accomplice at a house in Muncie. The deputy called for backup, but before backup arrived, they left the house.
On Dec. 14, the deputy located the accomplice and followed her to 21st Street in Indianapolis, where they spotted Broadnax, according to the document.
The deputy alleges that when Broadnax got into his vehicle, many officers converged on him, telling him to put his hands up. He then threw the car into drive and tried to run him over. The deputy said he jumped out of the way and punched out the driver's window.
Broadnax and the accomplice, Alicia Allen, were taken into custody. Allen was found with 30 tablets of oxycodone, according to the probable cause.
Allen has been charged with assisting a criminal and possession of a controlled substance.
