DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A former Daleville Community Schools employee charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student will serve six years behind bars.
Brady Milam, 41, was a custodial employee with Daleville Schools when he was arrested last April and charged with having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.
Under a plea agreement entered by the court and accepted by Milam, he will serve six years in prison and three years of probation after he is released.

In court documents detailing the decision for his sentence, the prosecution says Milam used a great deal of “care and planning” to “seduce and persuade the young teenage victim to engage in unlawful sexual intercourse.” It accuses Milam of writing disturbing letters to the teen and “grooming” her.

Because Milam has two young children and this was his first felony offense, the judge decided on an enhanced but capped sentence requiring Milam to only spend six years behind bars.
Milam will three years probation and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years following his release from prison.
