DELAWARE COUNTY — The deaths of two people found outside their homes in Delaware County are believed to be related to the cold, according to the coroner.
Delaware County Coroner Rick Hoover says they an 87-year-old was found outside of her home by family members on Saturday. Her death is believed to be cold related and an autopsy has been completed, but they are still waiting on toxicology results. Hoover says they are unsure how long the woman had been outside before she was found.
The low temperature on Saturday was 17 degrees with a high of 34 degrees. On Friday, temperatures only reached 21 degrees with a low of 4 degrees.
A 59-year-old man was also found dead outside his home by family members on Tuesday. Hoover says that man's death is also believed to be cold related, but an autopsy has not yet been completed.
The low temperature on Tuesday was 2 degrees and the high was 18.
The exact cause of death for both people will be released after the full autopsy and toxicology reports are complete.
