Third victim dies as result of fatal crash in Delaware County Tuesday night

GASTON, Ind. -- A third person has died as a result of a fatal crash two-vehicle crash in Delaware County Tuesday afternoon.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office says the two cars collided along Wheeling Avenue near West County Road 950 North just before 3:30 p.m. 

The sheriff's office says two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

They've been identified as Joshua Hartley, 18, and Matthew Case, 28.

Lydia Astrop, 18, died from her injuries on Wednesday. The sheriff's office says Astrop was a passenger in the southbound vehicle.

Another 18-year-old passenger and the 68-year-old driver from the second car were taken to the hospital in serious condition. 

Evidence collected at the scene by the crash reconstruction team indicates speed, alcohol and possibly illicit drugs were contributing factors in the crash.
