DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A homeowner got quite the surprise Monday afternoon when she came home to find a strange man lying on her couch and wearing her clothes.

Officers were called to a home in the 3000 block of S. Chippewa Lane just before 5 p.m.

The deputy who responded said he saw Brian Miller, 29, walking out the front door of the home when he got there, but Miller turned around and went back inside. When the deputy knocked on the door, Miller answered and told him that his grandfather owned the home and he had a key. Police did not find a key on Miller or inside the home.

The homeowner told police that she came home and noticed that her front door was locked, including the deadbolt. When she walked inside she saw Miller lying on her couch and wearing her clothes so she ran next door to call the police.

The homeowner's room and her son's bedroom both ransacked, according to the police report, and Miller had filled five bags worth of items from the room that were sitting in the living room.

Miller also had several debit and credit cards, an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry that belonged to the homeowner. All items were returned.

Police believe Miller may have entered the home through the homeowner's son's room because his window was left unlocked.

Miller was arrested and charged with burglary, residential entry and theft.
