KOKOMO, Ind. -- The young son of a Howard County Sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty will receive something very special this weekend: a quilt in honor of his father.
One-year-old Noah Koontz will receive the quilt Saturday at a Kokomo event from the non-profit group Indy Going Blue. The organization says it received 1,200 police uniform patches from agencies in every state in the U.S. to make the quilt.
Koontz's father, Deputy Carl Koontz, was killed in a March shootout while serving a warrant.
On Wednesday, a Kokomo bridge was dedicated in his honor.
