Butler pulls off 89-85 overtime win against Marquette

INDIANAPOLIS — A huge win for Butler Friday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse in a Big East barn burner.

The Bulldogs rallied from nine points down in the second half and won the game in overtime 89-85.

The win snaps a three game losing streak for 13th ranked Butler and ends Marquette's winning streak at three.

Kamar Baldwin had 31 points to lead the Bulldogs. 29 of those points came in the second half and in the overtime. Baldwin also scored the final nine Butler points in the second half.

After Baldwin put the Dogs ahead by three with eight seconds left, Koby McEwen nailed a three pointer for the Golden Eagles to send the game into overtime.

Butler went up by eight points with 45 seconds left in the overtime, only to see Marquette pull to within one with 27 seconds to go before Butler held on for the win.

Markus Howard, the leading scorer in Division One basketball, had 26 points to lead the Golden Eagles.

Butler is now 16-4 while Marquette falls to 14-6.
