INDIANAPOLIS—Edge and Reg are a step closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Edgerrin James and Reggie Wayne are two of the 25 "modern-era" semifinalists in the hall's Class of 2020—a list that will be reduced to 15 finalists early next year.

Edgerrin James: The Colts all-time rushing leader with 9,226 yards. James is also the team's leader in rushing touchdowns, rushing yards per-game average, rushing yards in a single season, and most seasons with 1,000 rushing yards. This is his sixth straight year advancing to semifinalist. James has also advanced to finalist three times without getting the nod.

Reggie Wayne: This is his first year of eligibility. Wayne played 14 seasons with the Colts. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Wayne ranks 10th in NFL history in receptions and receiving yards and is tied for 23rd in receiving touchdowns. He's among the league's all-time greats in playoff games, catching nine touchdown passes. Last year, Wayne was inducted into the Colts' Ring of Honor.

The names of the finalists will be presented to the full 48-member Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee during its annual meeting, the day before the 2020 Super Bowl.
