INDIANAPOLIS – City developers are looking to preserve and renovate a historic African-American church while constructing two new hotels along the downtown Indy canal.
Sun Development & Management Corporation wants to build two hotels, retail space and a parking facility in hopes of preserving the Bethel AME Church building at 414 W. Vermont Street.
A new apartment complex could also be joining downtown Indy.
Developers have proposed a 38-unit mixed-use apartment building to sit at the southwest corner of New York and Delaware streets.
The five-story building, totaling over 19,000 square-feet, would also include street-front retail and a multi-story parking garage.
The proposal also hopes to include public art and is scheduled for discussion in committee this week.
