INDIANAPOLIS -- Seven-year-old Madison Davis was getting into her grandmother's car last month when she was struck by a bolt of lightning – leaving her unresponsive and not breathing.

Her grandmother, Becky Davis, immediately jumped into action. Davis called 911 and began performing CPR while she waited for medics to arrive.

This week, Madison, now able to talk again, is recovering at Riley Hospital for Children. Her doctors all credit her grandmother with saving her life.

"I want to thank God for saving her because she was gone by the time I got to the car," Davis said. "I want to thank God and thank the staff here."

Madison will likely move to an inpatient rehab center next week and stay there for the next two-to-four weeks.
