INDIANAPOLIS — A dog died in a house fire Thursday afternoon on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
Firefighters from the Wayne Township and Decatur Township Fire Departments found smoke and flames coming from a mobile home trailer in the 2800 block of Palace Drive when they arrived around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
All people and four of five dogs in the home escaped, but Captain Michael Pruitt of the Wayne Township Fire Department said one dog died in the fire, which destroyed the home.
Pruitt said the number of people who lived in the home is being investigated. The people are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Pruitt said.
