INDIANAPOLIS – A car struck a gas pump causing a fire early Saturday morning on Indianapolis’ west side.
Police said a driver lost control of his car when he hit a gas pump causing his vehicle and the pump to catch fire at a Shell gas station at 7901 W. 10th Street.
An officer pulled the driver out of the vehicle after he initially refused.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire in about five minutes.
The driver was treated at the scene for a minor injury and taken into custody.
The fuel pumps at the Shell gas station will remain out of service until they are repaired. There is no damage estimate available at this time.
