INDIANAPOLIS -- Law enforcement in Central Indiana is taking the opportunity between winter storms to urge Hoosier drivers to be more careful on the roads.
Last week, several accidents involved drivers hitting stopped public safety vehicles – including one semi driver who struck Lou Farney's flatbed on I-65 before crashing into an ambulance with a patient aboard.
"Everybody's lives are at stake," Farney said. "The ambulance personnel and the fire personnel. Luckily, everyone was inside a vehicle at the time, or it would have been a lot worse."
Law enforcement says drivers should remember it’s a legal requirement to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles on the side of the road. If you don't, you could be looking at a hefty fine or a suspended license.
