Elite Imports reopens 1 day after FBI raid

Posted

An Indianapolis used car dealer was back in business this week just a day after the FBI raided its two locations.

FBI agents seized boxes of documents at Elite Imports' Indianapolis and Lawrence car lots and towed dozens of vehicles in a day-long raid. The agency didn't say why the businesses were under investigation.

But just a day after that raid, the business had reopened at 52nd Street and Keystone Avenue – albeit with fewer vehicles.

"I see people walking around in there and I'm very surprised that they're open, because this is very unusual," said Thomas Hines.

Customers who talked to RTV6 this week said Elite Imports engaged in deceptive business practices and fraudulent loans that cost come hundreds and even thousands of dollars.
