ZIONSVILLE — A gas smell that is traveling across multiple cities in the Marion and Hamilton county areas is not a danger to the public, according to emergency management directors.

Boone County Emergency Management says the gas smell is eminating from a line near the Zionsville area. They say the Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. is working on a line in the area of 96th Street and Zionsville Road on the Marion County side and a little bit of gas was "burped" from the line. That gas has been carried by the wind and is causing dispatchers to receive calls across parts of Marion and Hamilton County.

Emergency management directors in Boone and Hamilton County say the smell is not a danger to the public and there is no need to call 911 to report it.
