WHITESTOWN, Ind. -- The embattled Whitestown clerk treasurer resigned Wednesday at a meeting of the town council.
Clerk Treasurer Amanda Andrews had been in the hot seat with the council for weeks amid allegations she hadn't been showing up for work.
A sign on Andrews' office door said she had been shadowing other clerks, but Andrews told Call 6 Investigates' Kara Kenney she had accepted a second job at the Subaru plant in Lafayette. The sign was later changed to say she was on vacation.

The Whitestown Town Council called Wednesday's meeting to discuss an ordinance that would require the town's clerk to be in her office during regular work hours. Currently, state law doesn't mandate a minimum number of hours local officials must work.
Before council members could bring up the ordinance, however, Andrews announced her resignation.
Whitestown Director of Public Relations Tanya Sumner said the council would go through a multi-step hiring process to appoint Andrews' replacement.
Sumner said work should continue uninterrupted in the meantime thanks to Andrews' deputy clerk treasurer.
