INDIANAPOLIS -- A recovering heroin addict is hoping soon an anti-heroin billboard will sit along I-65.
Scott Mitchell has been raising money for weeks to put up the billboard, which he hopes will help heroin users make the choice he did and turn to recovery.
He wants to put the sign up along the same route he used to take from Boone County to get his drugs in Indianapolis.
Mitchell says he's just a few hundred dollars short of his goal to display the billboard for six months.
"Whenever I was in active addiction there were many times that I thought there was no way out of it, that this was just the life, you know, and that nobody cared," Mitchell said. "I think by doing what I'm doing, and the help of everybody else that's helping me, we shed that little bit of hope."
Mitchell hopes to have the money raised for the billboard within the month. He has a GoFundMe page he's using to help raise funds. You can find that here.
