INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is warning motorists to prepare for road closures Friday when President Trump and Vice-President Pence visit the city for the NRA convention.

According to IMPD, there will be closures of I-70 between I-465 and downtown. Eastbound I-70 will be diverted to I-465 north and south, while westbound I-70 will be diverted to I-65 south or north.

Airport access will be uninterrupted, but access to I-70 west should be made via I-465 to I-70 westbound to the airport terminal.

Delays will be most likely between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. due to the I-70 restrictions and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for westbound I-70 closures.

IMPD expects possible delays and closures throughout the downtown area until 6:30 p.m.

People can follow the department's Twitter account (@IMPDnews) during the day for up-to-date traffic and safety information.
