MARION CO. — A family of five is working with the Red Cross to make other arrangements for a place to stay on Friday night after a fire at their home, near Southport.
Indianapolis Fire Department crews received the call around 7:20 a.m. on Friday morning regarding the fire on the 7800 Block of Broadview Drive.
The father told firefighters he was about to take the kids to school when he opened the door from the house to the garage. That's when he saw heavy flames.
He slammed the door and got his family out of the house.
Fire investigators are still looking into the cause.
