KOKOMO, Ind. -- The family of an 18-year-old Kokomo woman who has been missing for the past four months is still searching for answers in her disappearance.
Karena McClerkin disappeared on October 11, 2016. The last place she was seen was near the intersection of Markland Road and Washington Street.
Her grandmother, Gerry McClerkin, said the family has been searching nearly every day for Karena, hoping that someday they’ll find an answer.
But while their searches continue Gerry said after four months of the family has given up hope that they will still find Karena alive.
“You don’t think it’s going to happen to you, but it happens more and more now every day,” said Gerry. “Watch your children, keep an eye on your kids; the most they’re going to do is be mad at you. They’ll get over it, keep your kids close to you.”
The uncertainty of not knowing where your loved one is, what happened to her and possibly who is responsible is something the family said no one should have to go through.
The Kokomo Police Department is working Karena’s missing person case, but they said it remains an ongoing investigation.
