Family of triple murder victim speaks out

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Four days after her fatal shooting, an Indianapolis woman's family is desperately searching for answers.

Lisa Woods, 52, was one of three people found dead Friday morning on the Lodge Apartments on the 3400 block of Admar Court.

Neighbors told police they heard what they thought were gunshots an hour earlier, but didn't call police. A 911 call wasn't made until a family member came by to check on them. That's when the bodies of Woods, 23-year-old Takara Coleman and a male victim were found fatally shot.

Beverly Morris says she now wakes up each morning hoping the death of her niece, Woods, was all a bad dream.

"My heart gets extremely heavy," Morris said. "It just feels like my heart's going to fall out."

Morris says Woods was always available to talk out problems. Raised in Indiana, Woods was a hard-working mother of four, Morris said.

"You're always thinking and visualizing what she was going through in the last few seconds of her life," Morris said. "What was she thinking? What was she feeling?"

Morris said she doesn't hold a grudge against the killer or killers who took Woods' life.

"I forgive you," she said. "I'm not who you have to answer to, but I forgive you."
