Family reunited with puppy stolen in burglary

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- A puppy stolen from an Indianapolis home was reunited with its owners this week thanks to a Good Samaritan.

Indianapolis East District officers had been taking care of the 8-month-old puppy, named Cola, since someone spotted her wandering on the shoulder of a busy street and brought her in. Police said Cola was stolen from her home during a burglary.

"She seems to be in good spirits," said Officer Josh Stayton. "She's been running around trying to get treats and happy to hopefully be going home."

Cola's owners were happy to have her home too.

"Cola was very special not just to my granddaughter, but to all of us, because we all fell in love," said Cynthia Rudolph. "If you have a pet that you love dearly, that's part of your family. And Cola is part of our family."

So far, police have not made an arrest in the burglary. The Rudolph family says they've installed an alarm system.
