INDIANAPOLIS — A female passenger was killed in a motorcycle crash early Monday morning.
Indiana State Police were called to the crash on I-65 near Lafayette Road just after midnight. When medics arrived they found a woman unconscious and unresponsive and a man that was conscious and serious injured.
State police say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was rushed to Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Neither rider was wearing a helmet.
Indiana State Police say their preliminary investigation found that the motorcycle came upon backed up traffic and tried to go around construction barrels, and into a closed portion of the roadway, to pass traffic. While in the construction area, the driver hit uneven pavement and lost control, striking the median barrier wall.
The crash remains under investigation by ISP.
