INDIANAPOLIS — It's the season to give yourself a little scare, but no one wants to literally be afraid for their life at a haunted house.
So we caught up with the state fire marshal's office to see how they inspect haunted houses to keep you safe. They check for a good amount of fire exits and proper signage letting you know where they are, along with making sure there are fire extinguishers.
Rob Helton with the Indiana Fire Marshal's Code Office explained why the inspections are so important.
"The whole purpose of this is to scare people. And people want to make sure that when they're going in anywhere, whether it be a restaurant or wherever it may be that they're safe. And so it makes it even more you know important because they're going to be in the dark, and you want to make sure that, so people are kinda apprehensive," Helton said.
