INDIANAPOLIS — A fire on the near west side on Tuesday sent up a thick plume of black smoke but did not spread to a nearby storage facility.

According to information from the Indianapolis Fire Department, firefighters were called to a storage facility in the 2400 block of Turner Avenue on report of a large fire.

Firefighters discovered plastic pallets outside the facility caught fire and were sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading into the nearby building.

The fire was under control in 15 minutes, firefighters said. No one was injured.
