FISHERS, Ind. -- In response to significant opposition from people living nearby, a Fishers church has decided on a new location to try to build their expansion.

The Pastor of iTown Church announced during services Sunday that the church was now looking to build at 136th Street and Brooks School Road, a location he says he hopes will better suit them and the community.

More than 1,200 people signed a petition earlier this week asking the city council to vote against allowing the church to build their expansion at 126th Street near Brooks School Road because of the traffic impact and the affect it would have on their property values.

Leaders at iTown church say they're looking to build at a new location because they say they have grown from 300 members to more than 3,000 over the past seven years.

The new location will still need to undergo city approval but is already appropriately zoned, according to the pastor.
