FISHERS, Ind. -- Firefighters are being moved from one of Fishers' fire stations because of mold.

Testing found mold was growing at Fishers Fire Station 92, located on 116th Street at Brook School Road. Firefighters and their equipment are being moved to nearby locations on 104th Street and Promise Road until the mold can be removed.

Testing that is due back in the next three days will help crews determine the extent and type of mold and the best way to get rid of it. If the issue requires substantial repairs the city will put alternate housing on the property so that the firefighters can return to their district as soon as possible.

Initial testing shows that the mold spores are the worst in the firefighter sleeping area.

Remediation has already begun on the bunk room and testing has shown a reduced amount of spores in the first 24 hours of action.

Firefighters will return to their station as soon as the testing deems it safe.

Testing will be conducted at all other fire stations in Fishers to make sure all personnel are safe.
