FISHERS, Ind. -- The Fishers Police Department has a new crime-fighting tool.
It's a mobile app that allows people who live in Fishers to report suspicious activity and connect with officers in their district in real-time.
30 officers began to use the app on Thursday.
Police hope to use the app to prevent crime as well as gather intelligence.
It's not intended to replace emergency calls to 911.
"It (the app) allows people to report something that isn't an emergency, but may be questionable. Users can discreetly post photos and their location, and an officer can respond via the app," said Captain Ed Gebhart, Fishers Police Department.
Fishers Police will have a community open house at later date to help familiarize residents with the app.
