FISHERS — Fishers Police have issued a warning to avoid wildlife after they say two people were attacked by geese in a Walmart parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

Police didn't release many details about the "attack" but they say both people suffered minor injuries.

"Geese can be territorial and aggressive," police said in a Facebook post. "Please be aware of your surroundings and keep a safe distance from wild animals."

Goose attacks are not uncommon, because the birds live so close to humans they tend to be very territorial, DNR officials say. The males, especially, will not hesitate to attack if they feel someone is threatening their mates or babies by getting to close.
