INDIANAPOLIS -- An American Airlines flight headed to Chicago from Miami was diverted to Indianapolis Monday after a female passenger reportedly attacked a flight attendant and another passenger.

American Airlines Flight 1284 was heading from Miami to Chicago's O'Hare Airport when police say Daniela Velez-Reyes became unruly.

A spokesman for the Indianapolis Airport said the flight was diverted to Indy, and Velez-Reyes was restrained and moved to the rear of the plane until it could land.

During the process, Velez-Reyes allegedly struck a flight attendant and another passenger. She also reportedly kicked an airport police officer while being removed from the plane.

Velez-Reyes was preliminarily charged with battery, criminal recklessness and disorderly conduct.

An airport spokesman said the flight resumed after an approximately 90-minute delay.
