INDIANAPOLIS – A center for domestic violence is looking fill their food pantry shelves with donations.
The Julian Center, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic and sexual assault, is asking for donations of non-perishable items. Staff said they are in need of canned vegetables, tuna, oatmeal, cereal and rice.
Items in the food pantry are used to create kits that are handed out to survivors.
"These people are starting from nothing. They're essentially having to become homeless from the situations in which they've found themselves,” said Catherine O’Connor of The Julian Center. “They've gone through the great strong struggle to rebuild their lives to leave a violent situation, and now this is going to help them get off to a new, fresh start."
Donations can be dropped off at the center’s main office near 20th and Meridian streets during normal business hours.
