WEST LAFAYETTE — Four Purdue University students were taken into custody Thursday for multiple break-ins at a construction site on the West Lafayette campus.

Three freshmen and one sophomore admitted they had broken into the Purdue STEM construction site multiple times between Sept. 11 and Sept. 24. They reportedly stole Wilhelm Construction's equipment, which included hard hats and safety harnesses.

The four suspects also reportedly damaged a temporary door that led to the university's tunnel system.

The Purdue Police Department released photos of the suspects taken from surveillance cameras on Thursday, Sept. 26. Once identified, the students admitted their involvement, and all property was recovered and returned.

It is undecided at this time if the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office will press charges.
