FRANKFORT, Ind. -- Police have arrested a 56-year-old Frankfort man in connection with the shooting death of a 50-year-old woman.
Keith Smith was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.
Around 7:00 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of Green Street for a report of a shooting. Officers were able to identify the suspect and found a dead woman inside the home.

“Officers were able to establish communications with the suspect. These communications resulted in the suspect peacefully exiting the residence. The suspect is currently being detained for questioning. This is very much an active investigation as detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene," a post on the Frankfort Police Department Facebook page said.
Smith is being held at the Clinton County Jail. He is expected to be formally charged at a later court hearing.
Police have not released the woman's identity.
