FRANKTON — Schools in Frankton were closed on Friday after lightning struck a water tower in the city.
According to Frankton-Lapel Schools, the lightning strike cut off the water pressure to both of the schools in the district.
Buses were ordered to return students to their homes Friday morning, if there was no one home to accept the students they were taken back to the school to make arrangements with their parent or guardian.
A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for the Town of Frankton.
According to the town officials, a lightning strike at the plant damaged panel controls. The panel controls will need to be repaired before water can be restored.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until two 24-hour satisfactory water samples are obtained.
Until those tests are complete, anyone living in the Town of Frankton should be boiling water for at least 5 minutes before using it for cooking or drinking.
