In observance of the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, many communities in and around Indianapolis will host memorial events.
Sunrise Yoga on the Glick
There will be a yoga event for an hour beginning at 6:15 a.m. on the Glick Peace Walk segment of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail near Walnut Street between Capitol Avenue and Illinois Street.
Brownsburg Memorial Ceremony
Officials with the Town of Brownsburg, Brownsburg Fire Department and the Brownsburg Police Department will host a remembrance ceremony Friday at 8:30 a.m. The steel I-beam artifact salvaged from the World Trade Center will be the centerpiece for the memorial. The ceremony will be at the Brownsburg Town Hall Green, 61 N. Green St.
Indianapolis International Airport
A remembrance of 9/11 will be held at the airport at 8:30 a.m. in the Civic Plaza and will feature an Honor Guard, a musical performance by the Ben Davis High School Choir and a displayed artifact from the World Trade Center.
Whitestown Patriot Day Ceremony
A Patriot Day memorial will be held at the Whitestown Municipal Complex at 6210 S. 700 E. beginning at 8:30 a.m. A moment of silence will be observed and the Public Safety Team will line up vehicles.
Columbus 9/11 Ceremony
At exactly 8:40, the ceremony will begin at the front lawn of Columbus City Hall. The lawn will be covered with 2,997 flags, one for each victim of the attacks.
Downtown Candlelight Ceremony
Beginning at 8 p.m., the anniversary of 9/11 will be observed with a candlelight ceremony at 421 W. Ohio St.
