An Indiana funeral director is facing charges accusing him of stealing a wedding ring off a man's body.
According to court documents, Greg Thayer, of the Thayer Funeral Home in Randolph County waited for mourners to leave, then asked a cemetery board member for the key to an in-ground vault containing the casket of the deceased – Paul Dodd, Jr.
Police say Thayer admitted to stealing the wedding ring off Dodd's finger and selling it at a local pawn shop for $75.
Thayer reportedly said he'd never stolen anything off a body before, and even offered to buy the ring back.
He's now facing theft charges.
