Gas prices drop due to strong supply, low demand

INDIANAPOLIS -- Good news if you're hitting the road for the holidays.

According to GasBuddy.com, it's the first time a gallon of gas has fallen below $1.99 nationwide since March 2009.

The average price in Indianapolis is even lower at $1.83.

In Mooresville and Franklin, you'll pay $1.83 a gallon.

GasBuddy.com says strong supplies and low demand have contributed to falling prices.

Analysts say we should see low gas prices for much of the winter, but refinery issues in the west could drive prices back up.
