Gov. Mike Pence walks with Ten Point Coalition

Posted

INDIANAPOLIS -- Gov. Mike Pence joined Rev. Charles Harrison and members of the Ten Point Coalition Monday night for a faith walk in Indianapolis.

Pence and his wife Karen joined the group to walk around the United Northwest neighborhood. It's an area of the city that Harrison says has come a long way. Harrison says it's been 265 days since the neighborhood's last youth homicide – a positive, if not particularly sunny, milestone.

"That's why we focus on 14-24, because that's the group that's the most susceptible to violence," Harrison said.

Pence praised the group, saying they've put "feet on their faith."

"I think the hearts of Hoosiers are with our law enforcement, but I think they're also with our vulnerable communities, and that's why in Indiana we've made the progress and are making the progress that we have," Pence said.

Earlier in the day, Pence took part in a Cops Cycling for Survivors ride in Columbus.

He mostly shied away from questions about his Tuesday rally with Donald Trump, but he did have this to say: "I think the opportunity for Hoosiers to hear from him directly is exciting, and I look forward to joining him there, and if he wants me to bring a few words, I'd be happy to."
