WESTFIELD, Ind. -- Summer near water means one thing for sure: mosquitos.
That's why Grand Park has added the gambusia affinis – or mosquitofish – to all 22 acres of its waters.
The fish eats up to 500 larvae per fish, per day.
The park says the fish were an environmentally conscious decision.
Officials still recommend using repellent with DEET – but locals are fans of the fish.
The city of Westfield plans to add the mosquitofish to other parks as well.
