MARION, Ind. -- Grant County police were investigating close to a dozen break-ins this week, all of which took place while residents were at work or school.
Investigators have mapped the break-ins mostly to the central and northern rural parts of Marion and Grant County
They are all happening during the daytime when homeowners are away. The thieves are taking cash, jewelry, electronics and weapons.
"The best method is to keep everything locked up," said Detective Kyle Beal, of the Grant County Sheriff's Department. "Keep your property secured as best you can. Just be vigilant. You know what’s going on in your neighborhood, so if you see a suspicious vehicle or person, just call the sheriff's department."
Anyone with information about the break-ins was asked to call Grant County authorities at 765-662-8477.
