Greenfield woman on bike struck, killed by semi on US 40

GREENFIELD, Ind. -- A Greenfield woman was killed Monday afternoon when she was struck by a semi-truck while riding her bike on U.S. 40.

The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of West U.S. 40.

Police said 36-year-old Theresa Corey Burris, of Greenfield, was traveling westbound on her bicycle when she was struck by the oversized load being hauled by a semi-truck.

Burris was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was identified as 55-year-old Reed Thompson of Whiteland, Indiana.

Police said there were no preliminary indications of drugs or alcohol.
